7 Signs Your Relationship Has Come to the End of the Line

When you experience a connection problem in your home network, the first impulse of any individual who uses her common sense is to run a diagnostics.  You check if everything is in place.  Similar things happen in your relationship.  Sometimes, it comes to a certain point when you feel that love is gone yet you can’t be so sure.

There are little issues that are normal but there are also things that are indicative that love has ended.  Here are 7 clues that will help you reevaluate your relationship and determine if it’s really over.

#1) Withdrawal

When thrill is gone, it’s just no fun.  In this case, two extreme emotions are involved, it’s either you get very annoyed or you’re being super calm.  With the former, you find his mere presence very irritating.  With the latter, you’re expressionless and bored.  You don’t feel any interest in doing anything with him at all.  You don’t crave for emotional intimacy and you just want to distance yourself.

#2) Too Much Drama

Your relationship has turned into a Spanish soap opera.  There are a lot of excessive acting, never-ending fights and too many conflicts.  Same intensity format happens every single day.  You criticize each other and you’re both keeping a tally of each other’s mistakes.

Instead of asking, “What is your reason for doing that?” you say, “Are you out of your mind or you’re just plain stupid?”  Any type of attack to your partner’s character can drain all the love remaining in your relationship.  Furthermore, if there’s inability to resolve issues, it’s a clear signal that the end is just ahead.

#3) Disrespect

Respect is being mindful and considerate of your partner’s feelings.  It doesn’t involve physical or emotional abuse, like beating or blackmailing someone into submission just to get things in your way.  It is unhealthy and should never be acceptable in any relationship.  This also includes talking bad about your partner behind his back and public humiliation.  If you’ve been experiencing these things, run as fast as you can.  This is not something that you should overlook.

#4) Third Party

Outside entanglements, including emotional affairs, are clear signs of unmet needs.  Redirecting your focus to a potential love interest won’t solve anything and will just draw the energy from your relationship.  It is highly disruptive and can disintegrate all the love away.
Also, bringing the baggage of your previous relationship to your current one is not only wrong but unfair.

#5) Irreparable Trust

According to Psychology Today, “A betrayal is a broken agreement, implicit or explicit, that is considered vital to the integrity of a relationship.”  However, it’s not easy to forgive and forget and sometimes, the effects of betrayal are not fixable.  Whether you’re trying to fool your partner or yourself doesn’t really matter.  Speaking untruthful words won’t protect your relationship, it only delays the damage.

#6) Sex Has Become an Obligation

You can’t just lie down there like a starfish forever.  Sooner or later, you’ll get fed up.  Once lovemaking started to feel like a responsibility, there is no arguing that your relationship is in great danger.  Sex is not overrated and there are a lot of reasons why it is important.  Being intimate brings you and your partner closer to each other.  If there’s an absence of sexual chemistry, then clearly, your relationship will fail.

#7) Unwillingness to Work Things Out

When you refuse to make an effort to make things better and when you’re not trying you’re best to smoothen things out, then you’re not giving your relationship a fair shot.  Ideally, partners should work together but even if there’s only one person who’s doing his part, if it makes you feel any better, the relationship could still work out somehow.

Happy endings are rare but it is not impossible.  So, communicate before it’s too late.  Be open to your partner in the best way possible.  Tell him everything that bothers you and let him do the same.  Be appreciative even with little things.  Making a relationship last requires hard work.

On the contrary, love is gone when all you see on your partner’s end are his flaws and imperfections and when all you feel in his presence is nothing but negative energy.  If you no longer care, don’t be cruel and at least give your partner a chance to be happy with someone else.  You should also do the same favor for yourself.  If you don’t want the person around, get a roommate instead.

In addition, if you’re going to try to work things out again, make sure that you put all the necessary effort and give it your best shot or else you’ll end up suffering in a postmortem syndrome called regrets.

Sometimes, you have to let go to see if there’s anything worth holding on.  Do you think that the signs above are fixable?  Enlighten us with your experience by leaving a comment below.
